In Barcelona, UN-Habitat and Barcelona City Council hosted a family-centred celebration with workshops on waste reduction, urban green spaces and biodiversity, noise pollution, energy sources, and the water cycle.
From 11th-16th November 2018, Barcelona was at the cutting-edge of the discussions and actions on urban resilience!
Six dialogues, keynote intervention and numerous workshops provided space for over 500 distinct voices to be heard and new partnerships for resilience to be built.
Barcelona Resilience Week was held alongside the Smart City Expo World Congress and other major international events in Barcelona, giving visibility to the work of our network.
The forum was jointly convened by the UIC (Universitat Internacional de Catalunya), the Urban Resilience Research Net and UN-Habitat to bring academics from different disciplines and universities together to "Reframe Urban Resilience".
As part of Maputo Municipality's ongoing work with UN-Habitat and its collaboration with Barcelona City Council, the city has approved plans to create a Resilience Unit. The Unit will build on the holistic and multi-stakeholder approach initiated under the City Resilience Profiling Tool in the city.

From the major economic and cultural hub of west Africa, Dakar, to the small island capital city of Vanuatu, Port Vila, we are calibrating our methodology to be adaptable to ALL cities. Early results in these contrasting cities are promising.
More training resources and more accessible. The Urban Resilience Enhancers are a series of modular training tools to focus on specific resilience challenge: informality, social resilience, human rights, gender equality and climate action. These can be used by city partners to initiate dialogue and/or action.
With new content published every month including from Food for Thought articles and Resilience Pill videos, the Urban Resilience Hub and its diverse communication channels are growing. With over 60k hits in 2018, the reach of the Hub is global.
With major international events, breakthroughs in our partner cities and new resources, our work made the headlines in 2018 in over 10 different countries, from specialist journals to mainstream newspapers.
From the Making Cities Sustainable and Resilience Action to the Making Cities Resilient Campaign, UN-Habitat and our partners are committed pushing forward more action in more cities to improve the lives of more people as we move closer to the deadline of the 2030 Agenda.
